In Knowledge Based Companies the process of design and change management is even more important than in Skills Based and Rule Based Companies. To have an outside agent that can help a company to pinpoint the real reasons behind the need of change and to guide your company through the process of change and in the end make the intended goals of the project come true is important. I have done a number of such projects for companies like:
  • Ericsson Microwave Systems
  • SAAB Tech Electronics AB
  • Volvo Technical Developments
  • Swedish Institute for Working Life (ALI)
  • Swedish International Fair AB
  • Department of Conservation at Gothenburg University
Ericsson Microwave System AB (1995)
A high tech, high quality defence industry company needed to find new ways to work as they were  approaching the civilian market with their products. "How could the design of space enhance organizational learning" was the quest of the project.
This project is described in a number of research reports and papers.
My partners in this project was Dr. Göran A. Lindahl, at the time my research student and architect Björn Edström.
SAAB Tech Electronics AB
A Swedish defence industry company (former Celsius AB) that had through several merges resulting in a mixture of different industrial cultures become quite lost in terms of corporate culture and values.
They needed to redesign the space and had asked an architect to look into the problem. After presenting a design solution that totally abused the opinions of the employees the management found themselves in a dead end.
I was called in because of my experiences from Ericsson Microwave and the reputation of management of participatory design.
My partner in this project was architect Björn Edström
Volvo Technical Developments
Volvo Technical Developments is a R&D company within Volvo. The company should move to new premises and needed an office space that better enhanced their communication and creativity.
My partner in this project was interior architect Håkan Svensk.

A very traditional company that needed a new organizational structure to meet the growing competition in the business and now were undertaking a major organizational change combined with redesign of their office space.

This project has twice been used as a design case in a Professional Master's class in facilities Management at Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

A major architects competition had taken place to design a new building for the College on the same premises as The University College of Opera, The University College of Film, Radio, Television and Theatre and The University College of Arts Crafts and Design. The College felt left out of the design process and needed help to prepare them to be able to influence and communicate with the architects.
OFFICES_img4.gif LIbrary of Kinna (1977)
This library was a result of an architect competition. The interesting problem was that the library should be build in a park between an old theatre from xxxx and the town adminstration building, designen in xxxx by the known Danish architect NN. The architectural challenge was enormous.
The design team Osman Bayramogly, Christian Nowak and myself won the competition and the library was realized.
